As a part of Book Week Scotland 2014, the Special Collections Centre of the University of Aberdeen ran a competition asking people to write a story inspired by one of four images on their website. I entered with a story called Remembering The Sand, inspired by the image on the right. Sadly I didn’t win but my entry can be found on their website, along with the entries, here. Later this week I will write my Author’s Notes on the story but for now you can read the full thing below the break!
Earlier this year I had my short story Truth published by Spontaneity. In my Author’s Notes about the story I said:
For the first time when I was writing this story I had actors in my head for particular parts, however, as this post is long enough I’ll leave that discussion for another day.
Well today is that day. Below the break you’ll see who I had imagined for each part Truth if it was turned into a film.
Last Sunday I finally watched Wes Anderson‘s Fantastic Mr Fox. Considering I think the book is one of the Roald Dahl‘s best, the film had a lot to live up to. Part way through watching I tweeted the below:
I wonder at what point Wes Anderson read Fantastic Mr Fox when he was making the film. I think it was when he finished!

It is safe to say I didn’t enjoy the film and ended up rating it three out of ten on imdb. While discussing it with my other half I started thinking about why I didn’t enjoy it. To discover my thoughts on the subject you’ll have to click below the break!
On Sunday the 2nd of November I submitted my story Absorbing Art into 99 Fiction’s Horror Flash 500 Competition. If you haven’t already please head over to 99 Fiction and read my story. It would be even better if you could like it as it’ll give me a better chance at winning!
Be warned, there will be spoilers for Absorbing Art below the break!
