The only way to complete this mini Northern Lights/The Golden Compass series is to do a rewatch of the film and see if the concerns I had of the original trailer were unfounded. The short version is it is better than I remembered but does have a couple of major issues stopped it ever becoming a good film.
Beware spoilers for The Northern Lights/The Golden Compass below
The blog post ‘Northern Lights’ Trailer’ below was written just over 10 years ago on the 11th of October 2007 on my now deleted Bebo Account. When I copied this post across to my new website, of course, I forgot include a link to the actually trailer. So the trailer below is one I’ve taken off Youtube tonight but my comments could easily have described the trailer below as the original one I wrote about.
Today is the day that Philip Pullman publishes his new book La Belle Sauvage, the first volume of The Book of Dust series – a sequel series to Pullman‘s His Dark Materials trilogy.
Introducing Golden Compass Film Discussion
I’ve loved the original trilogy since my university days and I’ve talked a bit about them on previous blogs before so to celebrate the launch of the new book I’ll be re-publishing my original trailer review for The Golden Compass as a Ghost of Blogs Past. The following day I’ll publish a re-watch review of the film that refers back to the trailer review post to see if my concerns from 2007 are still true today. I’ll post both of these articles below the break once they have been published.
