In an attempt to keep this blog vaguely up to date and with more a focus on my writing I thought I should talk about what I’ve been up to and what is coming up. Let’s start with up coming performance bookings.
I’ve got a couple of readings coming up over the next few months. First on the 7th of February I’ll be reading at Woo’er with Words XI at Coffee on Woo’er. As it is February the theme is love so I’m planning on reading a new piece that I’m presently working on called My Missing Rock but if I don’t get it finished in time I’ll fall back on the old favourites A Mother’s Love and Drawn Memories.
Then in March I’ll be at West Lothian Write as usual. No idea what I’m going to read yet. At the last one i said I would read Remembering the Sand but I’m not sure anymore.
As you may have guessed from the subheading above I have indeed won something. My story Absorbing Art should the 99 Fiction Horror Flash 500 competition. The prize was £32 in Amazon vouchers and lots of tweets about my story. I still can’t believe I won but my at least now I’ve earned something from my writing!
I’ve got a couple of submissions almost ready to send out into the big bad world. Abraham Kingston’s Writing Desk is soon to head off to Far Off Places for the Epistolary Edition of their magazine. Epistolary means stories written in the forms of letters and diary entries so that is what I’ve tried. I hope they like it!
The next piece due for submission is Fogged that will again soon be heading off to see if someone will like it enough to be published. Neon Magazine’s Battery Pack is the place it will be going.
Finally, and if I can get it finished in time, the previously mentioned My Missing Rock will be sent off to the BBC Opening Lines submission request but a lot of work is needed on the story first!
Finishing on a bad note I’m sad to say that my tale Fancy Dress Captain’s Hat was sadly rejected by Gutter Magazine. These things happen but I have already got my eye on another magazine. Going to look over it again first.
